The CHEOPS Science Team meeting#30 will take place in "Amphithéâtre Gastaut", at Aix-Marseille University Central, at the Pharo site. 

The Palais du Pharo is located at the entrance of the Vieux-Port, separating it from the open sea. It is one of  the best site to view the Old Port. Built in 1858 by Emperor Napoleon III for his wife, Empress Eugénie, who later gifted the palace to the city. For over 100 years, it was the only military institute in Europe specialized in tropical medicine. Since 2015, the two buildings at the entrance to the Emile Duclaux garden have housed the majority of the central services of the Aix-Marseille University directorates.

On Wednesday: you will receive your badge at the Journées reception desk. Registration will take place in the "salle des voûtes" of the Aix-Marseille building (space for coffee breaks and meals), where the Gastaut amphitheatre is located. Signposting will be in place.

 

Direction to from the "Vieux Port" to the Palais du Pharo

The Pharo conference hall is accessible either

  • by walking (10 min from "The vieux Port"), or
  • by bus (lines 82 / 82S / 83, stop name: “Le Pharo”). If leaving from the “Vieux Port” stop, the direction of travel is towards “Pharo Catalans” for lines 82 / 82S and towards “Métro Rond Point du Prado” for line 83.
  • but not by car. For those arriving by private car, it is not possible to drive into the Parc du Pharo. A public parking is located nearby (Parking du Pharo - impasse Clerville) - other parking are available in the 7th arrondissement:

To reach the conference amphitheater:

 

1. Enter the Parc Emile Duclaux :

2. Follow the road to the left

 

3. Walk up to the large building with the "Aix-Marseille University" (not the first one, but the second one)

4. The Gastaut amphitheatre and the "salle des voûteswould be indicated from there on.
